Weekend Bath Itinerary

Day 1: Exploring the city’s rich historic treasures

The Roman Baths: Begin your day early to avoid the weekend crowd and explore the Bath’s landmarks starting with the Roman Baths. These Roman built baths offers a glimpse of the 2000 year old Roman life and architecture. Next visit the Bath Abbey situated close to the Roman Baths. It has been a place of worship for more than 1200 years. Don’t miss the opportunity to climb the Abbey Tower with the tour option where you get to know the history of the abbey, visit the Bell Tower and the top to witness the most beautiful panoramic view of the city!
Travel Tip: There are more than 200 steps to reach the top, so prepare yourself for the narrow steps climb but the view from the top will be completely worth it.

Lunch/Afternoon Tea: Treat yourself to a grand and fancy afternoon tea at the Pump Room, located next to the Roman Baths. Indulge in either traditional Champagne afternoon tea served with scones, cakes and sandwiches served in a grand room with a beautiful chandelier and accompanied by music by the Pump Room Trio.
Travel Tip: Don’t forget to taste the natural spring water from the King’s Fountain.

Explore the Pulteney Bridge and Walk along the River

After indulging in a royal afternoon tea, you can plan to explore the river side of the city. You can leisurely stroll along the Pulteney Bridge which has shops across its full span, which makes it one of the four bridges in the world with such a setup.

Where to stay in Bath ?

We were booked at the ‘The Griffin Inn‘ located right in the heart of the Bath City. The Griffin has been welcoming guests and also locals for the past 300 years! It is a pub with rooms, serving some of the best beer, wine and spirits with amazing décor and cosy corners to enjoy them.

They offer comfortable accommodation with a contemporary twist and being located so well located, tourists can take advantage of this and explore everything that this beautiful city can offer! Each room has a character of its own featuring shower room, coffee machine, bedding and all other amenities.

When planning your trip to Bath, definitely plan to add Griffin Inn in your list, surely you will not regret it.

Day 2: Natural Thermal Spa, Historical Lunch and Beautiful Gardens

Thermae Bath Spa – Start your day with a relaxing spa at UK’s only natural thermal spa at the Thermae Bath Spa. Treat yourself to the natural thermal waters and enjoy the roof top pool with panoramic views of the city.
Travel Tip: Remember to book your slots before your visit as it tends to get busy especially during the weekends. Plan to reach early for the morning slots to avoid the crowds and make good & efficient use of your time at the spa.

Lunch: Plan to dine out at one of Bath’s oldest house, Sally Lunn’s, which is known for its famous Bath buns. You can enjoy a traditional English lunch here but again due to its famous historical background and small space, it is recommended to book in advance. It is definitely one of the best things to do in Bath.

The Royal Crescent and Royal Circus: After delicious lunch, head out to one of Bath’s iconic landmarks and famous for its Georgian architecture, the Royal Crescent. You must have seen this location in many TV shows and movies like The Bridgerton and The Duchess. Visit the No.1 Royal Crescent, a museum that recreates the Georgian town life with historical furniture and amazing décor.
Travel Tip: A short walk from here, you can visit another historical architectural masterpiece, The Circus. The amazing circular arrangement of the Georgian townhouses with a huge tree in the centre makes it a beautiful sight!

Prior Park Landscape Gardens: This eighteenth-century beautiful landscape Prior Park gardens is one of the most iconic landmarks of Bath. Take in the stunning views of the Bath City from here as you stroll through the beautiful and picturesque gardens. A photo spot at the Palladian bridge is surely a must!
Travel Tip: Be prepared for the steep slopes and walk along the steps. It takes roughly 1 hr for a complete circle around the gardens.
