During our recent Hamburg trip, we had the pleasure of staying at the Heikotel Am Stadtpark Hotel, which was an excellent place to explore this port city.

Here is glimpse of our Hamburg adventure where we highlight both our amazing stay and things to do in Hamburg! We hope this article inspires and helps plan your perfect Hamburg trip .

Arrival in Hamburg & Check in

Our journey began with a smooth arrival into Hamburg Airport, located just 15 minute drive from the city centre. The hotel we stayed was the Heikotel Am Stadtpark Hotel which is approximately 20 min train ride from airport. It is located in a quite neighbourhood with calm surroundings near Stadtpark, and still well connected to public transport which is easily navigable. The hotel is close by to the Saarlandstraße U-Bahn station.

The hotel has modern décor with some great city photographs all around. It was clean and well maintained. Although we were early for our check-in, we managed to get the room with ease by the helpful staff at the reception. There are sweets at the desk every day, which was good thing. The hotel also has a locker room where you can leave your bags using a 1 Euro coin and then take the key with you. This is really helpful if you are arriving early or have a late flight post checkout. Then you can explore Hamburg without any heavy bags.

Room and Amenities

Our room at the hotel truly exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by lovely fruit basket and complimentary water bottles and the room was very spacious and clean with all modern facilities. The décor was modern with calming neutral tones which was liked by both of us. There also was a small chocolate on our pillows which was a great cute gesture! There was free Wi-fi, TV, safe, desk with seating area looking out to a lush green garden. And yes the mini-bar was well stocked! Everything was perfectly sorted out for us, isn’t it?

There also is small fitness room here downstairs with treadmills, bikes and a rowing machine. Here there are no weights but an spin studio next to this fitness room. If you are looking for a hotel with a meeting room, then Heikotel is perfect place for you – with a small and elegant room to fit up to 40 people.

Breakfast

The breakfast was included with out stay and it is an all-you-can eat buffet style breakfast with lots of options like different breads, cheese, eggs, salamis, granola, fruits and yoghurt. The food selection was really impressive and we had a filling breakfast which we usually tend to have before we set out to explore any destination! It was fresh with local products and a wide selection ensure a perfect start to the day. Also the dining area décor is truly modern and aesthetic!

Things to do in Hamburg

The Hotel Am Stadtpark’s excellent location made travelling throughout Hamburg a breeze. The Sierichstraße U-Bahn station, which connects you to the centre of Hamburg in minutes, is conveniently close to the hotel. We recommend that since the hotel is a bit further from the city centre and if you are short in time, then it is better not to return back to hotel in between the day. There is a supermarket and few restaurants close by if later you don’t want to head back to the city after a full day of Hamburg tour.
